In the early 90’s I started a series of paintings which focus on the human presence in imaginary environments using a sharp contrast of light and darkness in an attempt to convey the concept of inhospitableness. As the work developed , words or messages were added to the composition so as to make the efforts of the “lonely” in essence human being to “communicate” with the world more direct. The tone is often sarcastic in order to “shift” the barrier which confines one and to redefine values which have now become clichés , such as, “Long live the Nation” or “Illegitimate Child”. My training in theatre has created a need to communicate with the public directly and live performances have become a common vehicle through which to convey the “dream”. Video, installations, painting and performance art have become indispensable means through which to express,(and pardon my saying), my art statement .

Save it for later
