World I & II 2004

Composition of 30 works, charcoal and oil pastels on paper, each 70 x 50 cm

Participation in Cosmopolis, Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, 2004

This work was first exhibited in its original form at the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, during the exhibition Cosmopolis. It consists of 30 individual, unique black and white compositions that operate independently but if placed in certain positions next to one another they form the composition World I.

The concept is that the work will go through 30 different stages, where each individual composition will be transformed and replaced by a new composition but this time a colour one, that will now be a new total, always having as a common pivot the word “World”. In the end we will be facing a work of 30 colour compositions that will now be “World II” and the previous synthesis “World I” will return to its original form of 30 black and white compositions.
